Seven Years Later…

It’s strange what you can remember vividly. I mean, on October 24th Facebook decided to remind me that seven years ago I went to my first Kpop concert. SMTown 2011 in NYC. Strange and frustrating stuff happened to me leading up to the event but I was determined to not let it get me down. (Thinking about it, I need that determination back…gotta channel that me for that)

Anyway, the whole weekend was eventful. I kept bumping into the SMTown buss and crowds randomly during that weekend. My travelling companions wanted to receive them at the airport after we checked into the hotel but we didn’t get that lucky. Which was a double standard because the airport got worse that night when Girls Generation arrived from Japan I think it was. There’s probably still fancams of that in some dark corner of YouTube somewhere.

That’s not the point of the post though. The show was amazing. I got to see my favorite people at the time live. SHINee blew me away. I got to see Amber perform and lost my mind as I saw f(x). BoA, a woman I’d been following for what feels like most of my life (”Every Heart” came out in 2002 and I’d been a huge fan of Inuyasha and J-Pop since I was about 14-15…so it’s accurate). It has been that long.

The biggest deal was seeing Super Junior, whom I’d been following since late 2007 and Super Junior M. With that came my favorite singer in the world. Henry Lau is a multi-talented ball of sunshine that did not deserve the crap that he got from ”unofficially” joining Super Junior back in the day.

Anyway, the point of the post. I had the time of my life. I met my favorite K-pop band member and I lived a fantastic moment. I remember it so clearly and I wish I could go back. Most of my pictures are blurry because I couldn’t focus, I was too excited.

Maybe I’ll get another chance someday. Here’s hoping.

See you next time!
