So this summer I did something I’d been wanting to do for the last two years. I was able to go to California and hit up VidCon. I didn’t go at it alone.
It was most definitely an adventure. I can go on for hours about the trip probably. I mean, I got to meet my online friends in person. That’s not something that happens all the time. It really was amazing to finally connect with all of my friends in person. They are all wonderful and I love them all to pieces.
I sometimes wish I’d taken more pictures but honestly, the memories are what matter the most. I laughed so much, got to try new places, got to see new things, and caught up with some movies while I was at it. Anaheim (excuse me, AHAEIM) was beautiful. I still am a little sad that I didn’t get to go to Disneyland but I did hit up Downtown Disney for a while. That was a good compromise.
The weather was so different, which is weird. The temperatures expected were about the same ones I usually get in Puerto Rico in the summer but for some reason it didn’t pan out that way. Carlos was seriously enjoying the weather while I was shivering most nights. At least I had a jacket on.
I also even got to make friends outside of the community because we bonded over the same things. YouTube and our love for the people on the platform. Of course, there were some people that were randomly walking around that I’d wish I’d seen. Arin for example was a surprise I found out about on the last day. Oh well, maybe next time!
I’m going to be able to see Kathleen and Chewy in a few weeks so that makes me even happier. I’m also going to be reconnecting with an old friend from High School. This trip I’m actually going to Disney!! I can’t wait to see my friends again.
