Kura Kura

Twice is set to drop their Eighth Japanese Single, Kura Kura, on May 12. Warner Music Japan(WMJ) has been teasing us for the better half of a month and dropped the music video yesterday.

The video is absolutely stunning. It shows us a more mature Twice, but at the same time, it’s not too much. The styling is impeccable, and the outfits in the dance shots get a special shoutout. Sana and Mina look STUNNING. Some of the cuter visuals are a soft touch, adding just a pinch of the Twice innocence they’re usually known for. The dance shot is with 8 members but there is room for Jeongyeon, as usual.

My favorite scene in the whole video is at the end, Momo runs through the open door and just vanishes into rose petals. GORGEOUS. I looped the video multiple times to listen to the song but, I always came back to look at the ending.

The song features some of those disco elements that they were teasing about before anything was shown, but there are this beautiful strong chords that add drama. They draw your attention, leaving a lasting impression. They also added a little bit of *spice* with whispers scattered throughout. Those little details are entrancing, catching you by surprise and adding to the mature allure that Twice has been slowly approaching.

It’s also worth noting that the ‘Twice!’ yell is back in full force, and it made me so happy. It’s been quite a few songs since we last heard that. A TikTok came up on my FYP page the other day, mentioning it and they were right. Last time that yell was in a Twice song, it was Fancy all the way back in 2019, and it’s been missing ever since. Glad to hear it’s back. Hopefully, we’ll hear it on their upcoming comeback too!

Until next time!
